It all began in 2017, at a small pasar (market) stall where Ah He’s mother sold her handmade mantou. Each bun was lovingly shaped by hand — simple, sincere, and full of heart. Her warmth and dedication slowly won over loyal customers who came not just for mantou, but for the feeling of home it carried.
When the market changed, life became difficult. Aho took on work as a department store promoter — standing long hours, lifting boxes, and eventually injuring her knee. Yet even through hardship, her spirit stayed strong. Every challenge kneaded strength into both our dough and our hearts.

Then came the Movement Control Order (MCO). When everything stopped, we kept our little kitchen alive. Aho’s daughter began sharing photos of her mother’s creations on Instagram and Facebook groups like Vegetarian Malaysia — just hoping to reach a few kind souls.
To our surprise, word spread like wildfire. Orders came pouring in, and our kitchen turned into a whirlwind of flour, laughter, and late-night steaming. Soon after, Penang Foodie featured our story, and our 6-in-1 Mantou Set sold out overnight.

From social media to national attention, our journey grew faster than we ever imagined. We were invited to Astro AEC, DJ Hui Mei’s live program, City Plus, and 8TV, where our mother-and-daughter duo story touched many hearts.
In 2023, even Dato’ Lee Chong Wei became one of our customers.
That same year, Aho’s daughter made a life-changing decision — leaving her teaching career to fully dedicate herself to the family business.

Our love for mantou led us to China, where we studied 花馍艺术 (decorative steamed bun art). We began transforming traditional mantou into edible art — shaping flowers, animals, and festive designs that celebrate culture and creativity.
Today, we share this passion through workshops and online courses, spreading the beauty of handmade mantou far beyond our kitchen.

At the heart of Ah He Mantou is love — between mother and daughter, between maker and customer, between past and future.
To us, mantou is more than food. It’s a symbol of patience, warmth, and connection — the kind of love that rises with every bun we steam.
And as we continue to create, teach, and share, we hope our story reminds others that even the simplest beginnings can grow into something truly beautiful.
